SPI: Connecting Innovation to Market Opportunities
Founded in 1996, Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação (SPI)is a private consulting firm focused on the promotion of innovation, science and technology. With the main office in Portugal, with branch offices and presences across the United States, Africa, Southeast Asia, and China, SPI works globally to connect knowledge with market opportunities.
SPI has capabilities encompassing international project management, support in the development of business and exploitation plans, and linking research to market, making SPI a partner to lead the communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities within the PURPLE4LIFE project.
Role in Purple4Life
SPI leads a Work Package 6: Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation, their works include:
Developing the Dissemination, Exploitation, and Communication (DEC) Strategy (Task 6.1): SPI manages the development and updates the Plan for Dissemination, Exploitation, and Communication (PDEC), a living document that defines how the project’s progress and results will be shared to target audiences to ensure maximum visibility and impact.
Leading Exploitation Activities and IPR Management (Task 6.3): SPI supports the consortium in identifying key exploitable results and developing a business and sustainability plan to ensure long-term project’s values and results.
Supporting Clustering and Stakeholder Engagement: SPI fosters collaboration with related projects and builds a multi-actor strategy focused on purple bacteria (PPB) topics. This includes organising workshops and stakeholder events for knowledge exchanges within the communities, gather feedback and strengthen future collaborations.
Facilities and capabilities
Stakeholder Mapping and Engagement: Proven ability to identify and involve a diverse of stakeholders and reinforce engagement strategies.
Communication and Dissemination: Capacity to design and carry out communication campaigns, including digital content, press releases, newsletters, and event organisation supports with an in-house multimedia design.
Exploitation Strategy Development: Track record in building business models, conducting market analyses, and designing sustainability strategies.
EU Project Management: Extensive experience in private and public sectors, especially in EU projects with diverse international consortia.

Dr. André Almeida leads SPI’s contribution to Purple4Life, bringing extensive experience in managing international innovation projects with a strong focus on communication and dissemination. Matheus Avila brings his expertise in marketing management and a deep understanding of the project’s core vision to develop and execute our communication plans. Tiara Amadea supports stakeholder engagement and assists in delivering communication and dissemination activities across the project.
