Anna Gvozdjakova Presents PURPLE4LIFE at Comenius University

Dec 18, 2025 | News

The PURPLE4LIFE project was presented at Comenius University in Bratislava on 20 October 2025, where the LFUK team highlighted the project’s objectives and upcoming clinical studies on the health impacts of phototrophic purple bacteria–based ingredients

The PURPLE4LIFE project was recently presented at the Institute of Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry and Clinical Biochemistry (ÚLCHBKB), Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University in Bratislava (LFUK), highlighting ongoing research into innovative health applications of phototrophic purple bacteria.

On 20 October 2025, the LFUK project team, Anna Gvozdjakova, Zuzana Sumbalová, Zuzana Bystrická, Peter Musil, and Jana Muchová, delivered a comprehensive overview of the project’s objectives and the planned activities of the PURPLE4LIFE consortium. The presentation introduced the scientific vision of the project and outlined how interdisciplinary collaboration will support the development of sustainable, bio-based solutions for human health.

Particular emphasis was placed on the “Human Health” axis of PURPLE4LIFE, where the LFUK team plays a key role. The presentation detailed forthcoming clinical studies designed to assess the potential health impacts of phototrophic purple bacteria (PPB)-based ingredients, marking an important step toward evidence-based validation of these innovative compounds.

The event provided an opportunity to engage the academic community, strengthen collaboration within the consortium, and raise awareness of PURPLE4LIFE’s contribution to advancing sustainable biotechnology for human health.
